Genie Recon and SRC Holdings Host Open House and Ribbon Cutting
SRC Holdings Corp. hosted an open house on Wednesday, July 15, showcasing Genie Recon, a Springfield-based advanced remanufacturing operation that combines the expertise of aerial lift manufacturer Genie with SRC’s remanufacturing capabilities.
The event highlighted Genie Recon’s investment in the region, its growing skilled workforce, and the expanding role of remanufacturing in improving the economics of heavy equipment fleets.
Located in a 136,000-square-foot facility at 2065 East Pythian Street, Genie Recon reconditions Genie telescopic boom lifts, restoring them to like-new condition through a controlled, repeatable, factory-aligned process.
More than being repaired or refurbished, each unit is fully disassembled, inspected, rebuilt, and tested to meet original factory specifications. This approach delivers the performance, reliability, and consistency customers expect while providing a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new equipment.
Genie Recon currently employs more than 60 team members and expects to grow to approximately 90 by the end of 2026, with additional expansion planned in 2027. The operation is actively hiring across production, maintenance, engineering, planning, and warehouse roles, with a particular need for technicians experienced in heavy equipment service and repair.
To support workforce development, Genie Recon offers technical training and tuition reimbursement programs designed to help employees build long-term careers in advanced manufacturing.

The open house featured remarks from company, industry, and community leaders, a guided facility tour, and a live demonstration of a Genie S-65 telescopic boom lift.
As the operation continues to scale, near-term expansion plans include adding in-house remanufacturing capabilities for electronic, hydraulic, and drive system components, further strengthening Genie Recon’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality reconditioning at scale.
