SRC Associate Kendon Brown Honored by Department of Defense, Patriot Award

Springfield– MO Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense, announced on Friday, February 24, 2023, that Kendon Brown, Team Lead at SRC Heavy Duty Division East, was honored with a “Patriot” award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees and family members of those that serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The award ceremony was conducted at Springfield Remanufacturing Corp.’s whole goods facility at 9:00 am on February 24, 2023. Springfield. Col. (Ret.) Steve Vanderhoof, Missouri ESGR Area 4 Chair, gave remarks explaining the importance of providing jobs and employer support for Guard and Reserve members.

Brown was nominated by Joseph Long, Whole Goods Assembler at SRC. Long is also a Specialist (SPC) with the 294th Engineer Company, Missouri Army National Guard, Carthage, Mo. He is on active duty for an overseas deployment. SPC Long was able to video conference from his remote location to witness the presentation of this prestigious award. Sergeant First Class Jeremy Owens, US Army Reserve, attended the ceremony as a military representative for the nominator.

Springfield Remanufacturing Corp. was also nominated by SFC Long for the Secretary of Defense “Freedom Award”.

SPC Long wanted Kendon Brown and the company recognized in a formal award presentation ceremony.
