The Sullair Certified Reman Program at Springfield Remanufacturing Corp. (SRC) recently rolled out its 1000th remanufactured compressor.  Sullair first partnered with SRC, Springfield, Mo., in March of 2013 and has seen continual growth in remanufactured compressors since that time, SRC said.

The 1000th reman milestone compressor is a special one-off “Midnight Edition” will be presented Energy Rentals Solutions Caterpillar (ERS CAT), Houston, Tex. The landmark unit has a special powder coated glossy black paint on the body, black wheel and a metallic Sullair logo.

The Sullair and SRC milestone unit is a model 1600 (1600 cfm) rotary screw portable air compressor, powered by a Caterpillar C15 Tier 3 diesel.  Mounting options are tri-axle, four-wheel steerable and less running gear.  The compressor features a pneumatic inlet valve and 0 to 100% capacity control.

“The Industry is really starting to become educated on the value of this remanufacturing program, what the true process is, and the benefits to not just the environment, but the rental fleet owner’s bottom line by converting a used fleet with more rental revenue than new, less downtime, and a new warranty,” said Brian Waldo, Sullair remanufacturing director.

The remanufacturing process used by Sullair and SRC finds air compressors  fully disassembled, the components cleaned, reclaimed to meet Sullair specifications, or replaced with new, all the while updating the units to the latest engineering designs prior to being put into stock.  “It is a situation where the reman compressor is better than when it was produced new. For instance all controls are updated to the latest revisions,” said Waldo.
